Sylvania school levy passes, Maumee fails

Sylvania city school voters have overwhelmingly approves a 4.9 mill property tax increase.  According to unofficial returns, voters approved the increase by a 3-2 spread.  School board members say this will avoid a third round of spending cuts.

However, in Maumee, voters have rejected a 5.9 mill levy request. It was defeated 52 percent to 48 percent, or a margin of 114 votes. 

Other area schools districts that passed levies on Tuesday, include Eastwood, Fostoria, and North Baltimore.  The Wauseon school district passed two levies by an overwhelming margin.
