TOLEDO -- Congresswoman Marcy Kaptur put aside her battles on Capitol Hill Tuesday to take on an issue affecting one out of every 110 children born in the United States: autism.

Miss Kaptur met with local autism activists at the Autism Center on West Central Avenue in West Toledo.  The Autism Collaborative Fundraising Council is launching a $5 million community campaign to raise awareness about autism.

Last year, Congresswoman Kaptur secured federal funding for the University of Toledo's Center for Excellence in Autism.

The money will be used to help women with autism.
