4 year old drowns in Ottawa County

A 4 year old in Ottawa County died Sunday afternoon after drowning in a pond.

Police say the child was pulled from a private pond at a home in the 21-thousand block of East Curtice Road in Allen Township around 4:30. According to published reports, the boy is being identified as Caleb Nissen. Police say he had been under the water for about 30 minutes.

Emergency crews performed CPR. The boy was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead.
