CLYDE, OH (AP) -- The parents of a girl who died of cancer and was among dozens of children sickened in an Ohio cancer cluster are fighting for more federal funding for research.

Wendy and Warren Brown of Clyde in northern Ohio are hoping that legislation introduced in Washington will help get to the bottom of cancer clusters.

The proposal aims to create regional information and response centers for potential disease clusters. The couple traveled to Washington last month to ask lawmakers to approve the measure and to increase funding for childhood cancer research.

The Browns' 11-year-old daughter died of brain cancer in 2009.

Since 1996, 35 children have been diagnosed and three have died from cancer in a 12-mile wide circle just south of Lake Erie. So far, no answers have been found.
