MONCLOVA TOWNSHIP -- LUCAS COUNTY, OHIO -- Monclova Township -- Lucas County no longer funds public yard waste drop off. This means homeowners and businesses have to come up with the money for proper disposal.
In less than a week, Lucas County, more specifically Monclova Township, will have a new yard waste drop off site. Ohio Compost will provide yet another option for anyone looking to dispose of their leaves, brush, or even Christmas trees.
You can bring your yard waste to the new organic composting and recycling facility opening in early April, just off Sager road in southwestern Lucas County. The site sits on 40 acres of property with only a fraction of the land being used now.
It'll cost you $5 a cubic yard or roughly $15 for a truck bed of waste, and the contents remain onsite. Compositing typically takes a year to occur. The material is then sold from here as well.
Owner Craig Bauer says he had the environment in mind from the beginning of this project, making sure he reused stone from torn down Toledo public schools and the remnants of the United Way building for the construction of the property.
The location opens next Monday and will stay open through November. The public will also be able to take downed limbs following winter storms during the offseason.
