COLUMBUS, Ohio - Ohio Gov. Jon Kasich, just months into his first term, is set to unveil a combination of deep cuts, privatization proposal, and government restructuring that he plans to pursue in an attempt to rejuvenate the state's economy and close the its $8 billion budget hole.

Kasich will lay out his administrations proposal to balance Ohio's budget in a live Town Hall event. The meeting will be streamed live online Tuesday, March 15 beginning at 6:00 p.m.

As a candidate for governor in 2010, opposite Democratic incumbent Ted Strickland, Kasich promised to balance Ohio's deep budget gap.

At stake are privatization measure for government services and cuts to local communities' human services and schools.  Also expected to see deep cuts are universities across the state.

Schools throughout Ohio are anticipating tighter budgets next year and bracing to hear about education cuts when Kasich unveils his two-year budget plan on Tuesday.

The Blade reports some school leaders in northwest Ohio are preparing to lose up to 20 percent of their funding, though formal information on any cuts has not been released.

School officials tell The Blade that they may be forced to reduce staff and eliminate programs.

Within the first few months of Kasich's term, government economic development work has been privatized and the Ohio Legislature has begun the process of stripping 350,000 unionized public employees of many bargaining rights.
