COLUMBUS (AP) -- Ohio Gov. John Kasich says he expects the state's Republican-controlled House to pass a bill that would bar all public workers from striking and limit the bargaining rights of their unions.
The Republican governor told reporters Friday that he's glad the legislation passed this week out of the GOP-led Senate. He says he is satisfied with the bill and expects to sign it with little fanfare out of respect for peoples' feelings and emotions.
The measure would limit the bargaining rights of roughly 350,000 teachers, firefighters, police officers and other public employees. They wouldn't be able to negotiate health care benefits or certain working conditions.
Kasich says it's not an attack on union families.
The House will likely start reviewing the bill in hearings next week.
