TOLEDO, OHIO -- The Lucas County Sheriff's Office is now offering a reward to anyone with information that leads them to the perpetrator(s) of the heinous murder of a young Holland couple.
Lisa Straub, 20, and her boyfriend, Johnny Clarke, 21, were found inside Straub's Springfield Township home, hands bound and with bags placed over their heads, in the early morning hours of Monday, Jan. 31.
Authorities are now investigating the deaths, at 2161 Longacre Lane, as a robbery gone wrong, according to Lucas County Sheriff's Detective Cathy Stooksbury. A $5,000 reward is now being offered to anyone who can provide information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person(s) who committed the murders.
The bodies were found in the kitchen/dining room area of the home with no visible gunshot or stab wounds. Each victim's hands were bound with tape and plastic bags were placed over their heads, according to the Lucas County Coroner. Clarke's ankles were also bound.
Straub and Clarke both died of asphyxiation.
The couple is thought to have been killed some time between 1:00 a.m. and 4:00 a.m.
There was no forcible entry relating to a home invasion; however it appeared as if someone had been searching through a part of the home, according to Det. Stooksbury.
Authorities were called to the home three times Monday by Clarke's parents, who were unable to reach him by phone.
Straub's parents, who own the Longacre Lane home, were out of town at the time of the murders. They returned one day after the incident and have met with detectives.
