Scott students pay attention during a break-out session.
TOLEDO, OH -- Scott High School students took a break from the books Friday to learn some life lessons.
The teens themselves came up with the idea to hold a Student Summit. They brought in community, business and religious leaders to speak on topics like goal-setting and becoming the man or woman you want to be.
They also hope to curb some of the fighting and bullying going on in the school.
"Giving them the tools necessary to help them not only here at Scott High School but in the community. To help them channel their problems, have the resources to go to, having the people to go to and give them motivation to stop the violence," said TiRhohn Sanders, Scott High Student Body Government President.
This was the first year for the Student Summit but organizers hope it will make an impact and that they can do it again in years to come.
