TOLEDO -- A former Toledo Police Officer will not be spending any time behind bars for theft.

Ova Tate, 54, pleaded no contest to double billing the department and the Toledo Public School District where he was a resource officer. According to investigators, Tate was earning over $30 for each hour billed to TPD, while also earning over $23 for the same hours billed to the school district.

A judge sentenced Tate to 60 days in jail but suspended the sentence pending he stays out of trouble.

Tate must serve 60 days house arrest and pay back restitution to TPD and TPS.
