TOLEDO, OH -- The Harlem Globetrotters have been an American tradition for 85 years and are beloved around the world.

But did you know that the oldest-living Globetrotter lives right here in Toledo?

Al Price is 93 and basketball is once again becoming part of his life.

In the 1940's, Price was one of top trick basketball players in the world; a guard with the Harlem Globetrotters for eight years.

Though he still has the same smile... a lot else has changed. "When I heard he was a Harlem Globetrotter at first I didn't believe it," said Price's physical therapist Matt Snyder.

Price came to The Laurels of Toledo confined to a wheelchair and with balance problems. But that all changed when his physical therapist put a basketball in his hands. "Honestly, lo and behold, when he had a basketball standing up it was as if his balance improved greatly," said Snyder.

With just a few months of work, Price is up and around and independent.

On Thursday he was even ready to trade stories and tricks with one of today's Harlem Globetrotters. "I'm just happy to carry on the tradition of the red, white and blue the Harlem Globetrotters. You guys paved the way for us young guys to come in," said "Slick Willie" Shaw.

Shaw and Price are part of an elite brotherhood. And though generations separate them, they are still both Globetrotters. "I'm just impressed with how well he's interacting and moving around," said Shaw. "That's a beautiful thing. When I'm 93 I want to move like that and look like that."

Al Price went to Libbey High School.

There will be two games: one at 2 pm and another at 7 pm. You can get tickets through ticketmaster or at the arena box office.
