TOLEDO, OH -- The Lucas County Board of Elections along with representatives with both the local Democrats and the Republicans are recounting votes from the November 2nd election.

Because the Springfield Local Schools levy vote was passed and the Lucas County Commissioners race was separated by less than one half of 1% of the total vote, this process is mandated by law.

But after choosing which polling locations to recount on Monday, someone discovered a sheet of locations was left out of the random drawing.

"The deputy director and I talked about it and we called the Secretary of State's office and the decision was made to, out of the locations on that sheet of paper, to draw one of those to count in addition to the locations that were chosen yesterday," said Lucas County Board of Elections Director Linda Howe.

The recount is expected to last until late in the day Wednesday.

Commissioner candidates Carol Contrada, who was declared the winner, and George Sarantou are watching the process closely.
