TOLEDO, OH -- Deveaux Junior High School students got into the spirit of Thursday's holiday by honoring veterans with a special ceremony Wednesday morning.

63 veterans from around the area attended the service which featured speakers and musical performances by the school's band, choir and orchestra.

"I think it's pretty special because because it's something that I like to do. I like to give reward to the people who served our country, who saved us and sacrificed their life for us," said Halie Kinor, Deveaux 8th grader.

"I like to put it on for the veterans because I like making them feel special because they helped us so you should just give them some of your time," said Jarret Johns, Deveaux 8th grader.

NBC24's Jim Tichy was also on hand to talk about the Honor Flight program which takes veterans to visit the World War II Memorial in their honor.
