Authorities say many Toledo teens are at risk of becoming sex slaves.
TOLEDO, OH -- Teresa Fedor, who represents District 11 in the Ohio State Senate, has been at the forefront of Northwest Ohio's battle against the trafficking of minors for sexual purposes. She has sponsored a bill in the State Senate that would call for tougher prison sentences for pimps. "We've identified over 100 in Toledo alone," Sen. Fedor said. Dr. Celia Williamson, who teaches social work at the University of Toledo, says that the Glass City has a dubious distinction in the category of human trafficking. "Toledo definitely has a problem, because of its size it is per capita number one, we have a lot of vulnerable kids," Dr. Williamson said. On Monday the Justice Department announced that five Toledo residents were indicted on federal charges of sex trafficking of minors.
