TOLEDO, OHIO -- Toledo Police now say that a criminal and internal investigation has been launched into a shooting incident that left a Toledo Police sergeant injured Monday afternoon.

Authorities say Sergeant Jeffrey Bechtel was shot by a veteran officer during shift change, around 1:40 p.m.  The other officer's name has not been confirmed by the department, but sources say command officer Gloria Burks was the shooter.

Sgt. Bechtel, who was celebrating his 25th year - to the day - anniversary on the job, was shot once in the arm.  He was taken to Toledo Hospital for treatment of the injury, which was non-life threatening.

Toledo Police Chief Mike Navarre says Burks has been admitted to the University of Toledo Medical Center for a "medical problem."  Sources say she has been relieved of duties.
