NORTHWOOD -- Class is back in session Wednesday for Northwood students, and that means drivers need to be aware of school zone speed limits.

The speed limit will be 20 miles per hour at the intersection of Woodville Road and Lemoyne Road. School zone times are 7:15 to 8:45 a.m. and 2:15 until 3:25 p.m.

These will be enforced by a speeding camera set up in front of the middle school.

“All I can remind you is the children are now out there,” said Patrolman Mike Kutchenriter with the Northwood Police Department. “Pay attention to them. Watch the school busses. Obviously there are problems with people running school busses this early in the year. They are out there; you just need to be more aware of your traveling surroundings.”

The cameras have been in use for a few years, but Northwood police have begun to strictly enforce the zone speed limit.

Police will be monitoring the area, in addition to the cameras, in the hopes that their presence will alert drivers to slow down.
