TOLEDO, OHIO -- Northwest Ohio has a new champion of pizza, as voted by Toledo-area pizza enthusiasts.
The first-ever Pizza Palooza took place at Sylvania's Centennial Terrace July 23 and 24, drawing over 5,000 people eager to try some of the area's best pizza pies.
Eight area vendors vyed for best pizza restaurant in Northwest Ohio. The restaurants included in the 2010 challenge included Amie's Pizza, Andrew Z's Sportz Pizzeria, Bennett's Pizza, Jet's Pizza, Jo-Jo's Pizzaria, Marco's Pizza, The Original Gino's Pizza and Vito's Pizza.
After the slices were dished out and votes counted, winners of the inaugural competition were crowned:
