COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) - Former Ohio Attorney General Marc Dann has pleaded guilty to two ethics violations involving improper payments to staff from campaign and office transition funds.

Dann's attorney entered guilty pleas on behalf of his client in a Columbus courtroom Friday morning. He entered one of the pleas as an Alford plea, acknowledging evidence exists to prove his guilt but denying a crime was committed when he padded the lodging budgets of two aides.

Dann maintained his innocence while also telling the judge he took full responsibility for his mistakes. He was fined $1,000 and sentenced to perform 500 hours of community service.

Dann is the first former top cop in recent Ohio memory to face criminal charges for breaking the law.
