TOLEDO, OHIO -- Toledo's police union has voted against a proposed agreement between patrolmen and the city that called for pension pick-ups and deferral of overtime.

Members of the Toledo Police Patrolman's Association had until 5:00 p.m. to vote on the tentative agreement, drawn up by union representatives and members of Toledo Mayor Mike Bell's administration earlier this week.  The agreement had called for the restriction of union members collecting overtime pay until March 2001.  It also asked that uion members pay 3% of their own pension costs until Spring 2011.

In return for the concessions, the city was to toss out 125 layoff notices sent to Toledo Police personnel in early March.
