TOLEDO, OHIO -- As the temperatures continue to warm, a deadline is looming for Toledo City Council, and we're not talking about the city's budget deficit.

Apr. 1 marks the day Toledo's public golf courses are set to open, but the city still doesn't have anyone to maintain their three courses at Ottawa Park, Detwiler Park, and Collins Park.

Toledo-based “Master Golf Management” is favored among the handful of companies in line to get the five-year contract.

City council realizes a decision needs to be made very soon. “Our commitment is to make sure that we have a contract in place by April 1 to make sure the public courses that people enjoy like Collins Park, Detwiler Park, and Ottawa Park are ready to play,” said Steve Steel, Toledo City Councilman.

City administrators were hoping council would cast a final vote on the issue today, but that did not happen.

Discussions will continue possibly until council meets again on March 30.
