TOLEDO, OHIO -- Balancing Toledo's $48 million budget gap may include lay-offs for some city workers.
According to published reports, up to 300 city employees may get a 30-day layoff notice beginning next week. Toledo city leaders say the notices will be sent if the administration can't balance the deficit through union concessions and other measures. Toledo City Council plans to discuss the proposed union concessions during a meeting Tuesday.
The number of lay-offs will likely include police officers and firefighters. This list could be complete by Friday.
You can let council know your thoughts on dealing with the money crisis in Toledo. City council will hold a public hearing on the budget on Tuesday from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. in the Grove Patterson Academy Cafeteria on Marvin Avenue.
