(Toledo)--One local Catholic school uses the help of a corporate giant to promote alternative energy studies. Recently BP awarded St. Francis de Sales $10-thousand dollars to teach about solar and wind power.
The AP Physics teacher, Scott Secrest, will tell you he got a good get, you might say with thousands of dollars going to energy education. He considers this a valuable tool in the areas of knowledge and training for several hundred students.
The grant program began five years ago in California. It was developed to meet the needs of K through 12th grade teachers who want to expand their core curriculum with energy education materials. In this case, the use of solar panels and wind turbines.
And with the Toledo area at the forefront of green technology, those involved admit this type of learning is both practical and productive.
