TOLEDO, OH -- A Toledo Public Schools student was transported to an area hospital Tuesday after he was stabbed at Start High School.

At approximately 10:30 a.m, two students got into a fight at Start High School and one student stabbed the other.  The student who was stabbed was taken to an area hospital.

Students at the school tell NBC24 that the two male students were arguing over a girl in the school's cafeteria.  Toledo Police say lunch staff quickly jumped in and broke up the fight.

TPS officials had no information on his condition or the severity of his wounds; however, NBC24 has learned the teen is listed in fair condition at Toledo Hospital.

Start parents expressed their concern after Tuesday's incident.  "It's very astonishing because I could not imagine that this could have happened here.  We never had problems like this before," said Bibi Beksh.

The student accused in the stabbing was taken into custody by Toledo Police and now faces expulsion, according to a TPS spokesman.
