WATERVILLE, OH -- He Is biking across the country: nine thousand miles to raise money and awareness for ovarian cancer.

NBC24 caught up with Dr. Craig Broeder in Waterville on Monday.

He told us this cause is very close to his heart because his wife is an ovarian cancer survivor.

The couple has been through a lot together: the struggle of not being able to have kids and, of course, the pain of cancer treatment.

Broeder said it made sense for him to put his body on the line for this cause.

"I decided to just do something really insane from a physical perspective for the average person so that maybe some average people can realize they can do something special too someday," said Broeder.

One in eighty women will be diagnosed with ovarian cancer and 75 percent of them will not survive.
