Donations collected this weekend for injured hockey players

TOLEDO, OHIO -- Two area high school hockey players remain hospitalized after being severely injured in games last weekend.

The Northwest Ohio High School Hockey Conference will collect monetary donations at all of this weekend's hockey games for Dustin Wells and Kyle Cannon.  Both players suffered partial paralysis after being hit in separate games.

Wells, a Start High School player, is listed in good condition at Toledo Children's Hospital.  He was injured last Friday, Nov. 28 in a game against Sylvania Northview at Tam-o-shanter. 

Cannon, 14, of Clay High School, has been airlifted to St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center from Miami Valley Hospital.  Cannon was upgraded to fair condition before being transferred to Toledo from the Dayton-area hospital.   He was hit from behind in a tournament game in Dayton, Sunday, Nov. 30.

Money collected this weekend will go towards the injured players' medical costs. 

An account has been set up in the name of Kyle Cannon at Charter One Bank brances for anyone to wishes to donate.
