HARTFORD, CONN. (AP) -- Craigslist says it will crack down on ads for prostitution. The Web site is doing so as part of an agreement with 40 states, including Ohio.

Connecticut Attorney General Richard Blumenthal says the deal will require people who post "erotic services" ads on Craigslist to provide a working phone number and pay a fee with a valid credit card. The Web site will provide that information to law enforcement if subpoenaed to do so.

Craigslist also has agreed to sue 14 software and Internet companies that help posters of erotic service ads go around the site's defenses against inappropriate content and illegal activity.

And, Craigslist will begin using new search technology to help authorities find missing children and victims of human trafficking.
