DELTA -- A historic antique market in downtown Delta has been reduced to a pile of bricks.  A wall of the old building collapsed without warning.  Emergency crews feared the whole structure would fall.

Delta's Antique Market has been in business for 17 years.  The building itself has been standing the the 1800's.  But shortly after 5:30 p.m. Thursday, the Delta Antique Market collapsed.  The antique store is located at 301 E. Main in Fulton County.

Residents in Delta say the side wall of the building has been bowing for years.  They say it was just a matter of time before it collapsed. 

No one was inside at the time of the collapse, and no one was injured.

Mabel Hudson was sitting at the traffic light just in front of the store, and watched the whole thing happen.  She said, "All of a sudden, I look to my left, and I saw brick going, and I thought, oh my gosh, they're demolishing the building. And then I looked again and I saw the furniture in there, the antiques and then I realized the wall was crumbling."

Construction crews brought down the rest of hte building Thursday night.  A structural engineer has been called in to see if the buildings attached to Delta's Antique Mall are structurally sound.

Traffic through Delta has been re-routed.  If you're coming from the west, take SR 109 North, to US 20 East, to SR 64 South.  If you're coming from the east, take SR 64 North, to US 20 West, to SR 109 South.
