President Barack Obama and Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney have their eyes on the prize: 270 electoral votes to win the election.

NBC News declares President Obama the projected winner in California, Hawaii, Washington, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, Delaware, New Jersey, Vermont, Maine, Washington D.C., Illinois, Connecticut, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Maryland,  Michigan, New Mexico and New York.

NBC News declares Mitt Romney the projected winner in Utah, Montana, Missouri, Arizona, West Virginia, Kentucky, Kansas, Louisiana, Nebraska, North Dakota, South Dakota, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia, South Carolina, Tennessee, Indiana, Texas and Wyoming.

NBC News declares Virginia, Ohio, North Carolina, Florida, New Hampshire and Colorado as too close to call at this point.
