(Norwalk)--American Excelsior Company is a wood fiber company with more than a century of providing green-based services. And now it's focused on slowing erosion through a type of netting with a very interesting type of origin.
General manager David Peaslee and his company have a thirst for preserving the earth through pop bottles of all things. Green or brown plastic ones, turned into an erosion control net called Recyclex.
Some twenty bottles are used in every pound of this biodegradable net. Once broken down, the actual material made of the crimped fibers conforms to the terrain, redirecting the water flow and slowing its velocity.
No doubt American Excelsior considers itself a leader in erosion control. In fact, its slogan is "working with nature to create a better environment."
An 8 foot by 90 foot roll sells for $225 dollars. You can even buy these erosion control nets in most retail stores. To find out more about this product, log onto www.americanexcelsior.com/erosioncontrol/products/recyclex.php for more information.
