Riverbend Timber Framing home builds a green foundation

(Wauseon)--Paul Zumfelde lives in a two-story home with modest space and a beautiful backyard in rural Fulton County. And he's in the market to sell. Not his home but the idea of green living.

Insulated concrete forms shape the frame of this timber house. Plus structural insulated panels...or SIPS...are used for insulation with the help of styrofoam of all things. Something not biodegradable.

The cost to heat and cool this residence adds up to only about $800 a year. And Zumfelde hopes this number will only drop in the coming years. An example for others to follow.

Zumfelde's passion to save and spare the world extends beyond the walls of his home. He even redirects rainwater into his yard.

Paul tells me he hopes to add a few wind turbines and solar photovoltaic panels to his property.

Riverbend timber framing designed the five thousand square foot home.  For more information, you can call Paul directly at 419-335-9162 or go to www.riverbendtf.com.
