(Toledo)--Toledo's Padua Center formed in 2006 as a way to expand children's horizons beyond the world of everyday hardships through hard work and some dirty finger nails.
Sister Virginia Welch is the overseer to the master plan of taking a playground and converting it into a delicious and delectable garden of all kinds of fruits and vegetables. And she's doing this with the help of school kids from Pickett Elementary. The Padua Center prides itself as a way for these city kids to branch out and get back to the basics.
The organizers of this edible garden admit it may take years to really benefit from the fruits of their labor. But they admit, it's worth it to savor what they've done and watch it grow.
