(Sylvania)--Going green is now a major calling for one national religious group, including one church in Sylvania.
Some five thousand congregations, adding up to some 2 million people, make up the interfaith power and light, or IPL. Among them, Sylvania's United Church of Christ and its members. They want to show how the green movement is god's way.
As part of the church, there's a green team formed for the sake of saving energy and the environment. The church even has solar paneling on its roof, some $60 thousand worth.
Parishioners realize planet preaching from the pulpit can only go so far. They say it has to start from within.
IPL recently presented a petition before congress when it was voting on the economic stimulus package. It was a way to urge our government not to falter on investing in clean energy and green jobs. Turns out, at least $150 billion will be earmarked to helping the environment.
