TIFFIN, OHIO -- Lunch is a little lighter these days at Tiffin university since students, faculty, and staff are now going trayless.
Tiffin University became trayless just this semester. And this is a part of a bigger movement. In the next five years, some four thousand colleges and universities plan on cutting trays from their dining services as well.
Some believe this is a way to put the well being of ourselves and our world to the front of the line. I'm told by going trayless, some 700 pounds of trash can be saved daily, not to mention 100 gallons of water.
This effort by the college is just a part of the green movement on campus. It branches out to other areas as well, including recycling.
There are other eco-friendly plans in the works at the university, including ways to save on electricity and gas.
