TOLEDO, OHIO -- Are you a pack rat? Do you have too much junk in the trunk? If so, there's a website that can help. And just think you don't even have to lift a finger, just click a mouse.
all for the sake of getting rid of stuff and even helping our environment too.
Erin O'Bryan-Felty is proud owner of something called Toledo Freecycle. Think of it as a place to go, online, for either getting rid of or collecting merchandise. No pets, no guns, no drugs. no cost either.
You can find Toledo Freecycle through freecycle.org. There are at least 5-thousand members here in the Toledo area, taking part in this brokering or bartering of sorts. And all you have to do to get involved is fill out an application and have a local mailing address.
O'Bryan-Felty has been part of this site for more than five years. She says with today's poor economic state, she's seen online membership explode. And as far as what's being exchanged, well, nothing surprises her.
I'm told through this service, some 500 tons of stuff can be kept out of the landfill daily. At the same time, into the hands of someone who can really treasure it.
Keep in mind there's no shipping involved. Each person has to work out item pick-up with the other party. You can log onto freecycle.org for much more information and also register online.
