TOLEDO, OHIO -- Riding a bike on a sunny, summer day is one of the greatest exercises you can enjoy. But when these harsh winter elements come into play, the fun quickly goes away.
David Bingham lives in the old west end and works at St. Charles Hospital in east Toledo. That's a twelve mile round trip. And despite what you might think, he's not racking up any miles on his car. But he is on his bicycle at least three times a week throughout the year. Even in the winter.
To deal with the wintry elements, he wears layers, and he covers his head and mouth so he doesn't breath in the cold air. He also says his mountain bike with disk brakes and wide tires is what it takes to accomplish his mission.
David says he plans to bike for years to come. That way he's bettering his health and Mother Nature's as well.
