(Maumee, OH)--A few months ago we told you about Sunshine Incorporated of Northwest Ohio and all it does for those with special needs. And at the same time, this non-profit works to help our environment and all its problems.
Sunshine prides itself with something called the Sunshine Vocational Center. Here, those with special needs get to participate in recycling, and some even get paid for it. It's a way to give back and get moving. Obviously, these people have special needs. But to Sunshine, they are called clients.
Of course, there's other motivations behind the job itself, such as money, clothes, and games. However, those who work at Sunshine say the looks on their clients' faces say enough.
In one year alone, the group has recycled 20-thousand pounds of paper, not to mention all the cans and cardboard. And while all this translates into hours of work each week, this labor of love becomes a valuable lesson for everyone.
In other words, to reduce, reuse, and recycle.
Sunshine brings paper and cans to Gateway Recycling to receive a small rebate. If you want to learn more about Sunshine Incorporated of Northwest Ohio go to http://www.sunshinefnd.com/.
