TOLEDO -- Dozens of Glass City workers will soon be out of a job.

Toledo Mayor Carty Finkbeiner announced Wednesday that a number of city employees would be laid off.   He said that in order to erase a $3 million budget deficit, 45 city workers will have to be let go.

The mayor says the jobs will be cut within the next week.

Finkbeiner did not speak optimisitically of 2009 at a press conference Wednesday.  "The general wisdom that we're getting is that it's gonna be at least as tough a year. I think there's a possibility that at mid-year we might be looking at additional lost revenue...have to figure out how we're gonna deal with that lost revenue."

The union president says he has not received any notice about the layoffs.  He expects to receive notice Monday, but does not want to make any comments until then.
