TOLEDO -- The 27th Annual FrogTown Regatta happens this weekend along the Maumee River in Downtown Toledo.

More than 1,100 rowers from across the country will take part in the event presented by Owens-Corning. Teams have registered from as far away as New Jersey.

The Regatta features high school students, college, adaptive and master rowers from 36 rowing clubs. There will be 353 shells on the 3 mile course that will finish at the Docks.

"This is one of the largest and most prestigious fall regattas in the Midwest," explained Rod McElroy, director, LearnToRow programs, Toledo Rowing Club. "We'll have almost 2,000 seats on the water over the course of the Regatta. That means most of these rowers are racing twice," he said.

Racing will begin at 8 a.m. Saturday with the final race scheduled to start at 4 p.m.

Proceeds from the Regatta will benefit the Toledo Rowing Club.

If you are heading to the Regatta, the best viewing can be found along both sides of the downtown riverfront.
