Update at 10:30 p.m. on Monday: Water will be or had been restored to residents by the end of Monday night.

Residents in the Village of Fayette, in Fulton County, had been without water since 7:30 p.m. on Monday night following a water main break.

The water main break occurred near the area of Village Park and has damaged the water main that carries water from the Village's well to the water tower.

Village Councilman David Wheeler said that construction crews had been working in that area earlier in the day, doing sewer work, and believes a shift in the ground may have caused the break.

Now that water has been restored the Village will be under a boil water advisory for the next 48 hours.
