If your child was able to make Apple app store purchases without your consent, you may be due for a refund. Apple has settled a 2011 lawsuit concerning "in-app purchases" that allowed minors to spend hundreds of dollars without parental permission.

Those affected by the settlement will receive iTunes credits or cash refunds for claims over $30, tech site MacRumors.com reports.

Apple in-app purchases enable mobile users to buy items within free apps, including premium content, virtual goods and subscriptions. Unless a parent disables in-app purchases in the settings of their device, a child could rack up a bill while playing a game without needing a parent's password.

According to MacRumors, Apple will send email notices to the 23 million account holders who are eligible for a settlement. The full settlement is available to read on Scribd
