Snow in store for the weekend
We're kicking off the weekend in the ice box. In spite of some sunshine, a cold west wind will be persistent and powerful throughout the day. With highs in the upper teens and lower 20's the feels-like temps will be in the single digits in most places for most of the day. Layer up - this is frostbite territory with prolonged exposure.
For the weekend the headline will be snow. No - not a big snowmaker as this is another Alberta Clipper that will be relatively moisture starved. So after a chilly start near 10 degrees Saturday morning the clouds will continue to lower and thicken and widespread, light, accumulating snows will move in during the morning hours and we will see periods of snow showers throughout the day with an inch or two setting down by evening. Highs will be in the mid 20's.
Expect more scattered snow showers overnight and throughout the day Sunday with little additional accums. Highs will be in the mid-20's again on Sunday.
We start out the work week with mostly cloudy skies and highs in the upper 20's.
It is a BIG weekend with the Super Bowl on Sunday - but don't forget Saturday, February 2nd is GROUNDHOG DAY! Phil and Chuck shouldn't be seeing their shadows which, as lore has it, won't scare them back into their holes and that means an early start to spring... if you believe that sort of thing:)))
Have a terrific weekend!
