Researchers are asking parents to think twice before purchasing baby formula that contains arsenic.
A new study out of Dartmouth University shows there might be arsenic in baby formula that uses organic brown rice syrup as a sweetener.

Scientists began the study when they wondered how much arsenic was in foods consumed by infants.
“Because of their low body weight, if they are exposed to arsenic, then they are exposed to a disproportionately high exposure rate on a high kilogram body weight basis,” said Brian Jackson, a researcher at Dartmouth.
According to researchers at least one sample had six times the legal limit of arsenic the government allows in drinking water.
Arsenic is found in soil and has been linked to cancer and immune system problems.
Currently, there are no federal laws in place restricting how much of the carcinogen can be in food.
