Local doctor arrested for drug trafficking

SENECA COUNTY -- A local doctor has been indicted on more than 2 dozen counts of drug trafficking.

On Wednesday, a Seneca County grand jury handed down the 30 count indictment against 55-year-old Samuel J. Christian, MD of Tiffin.

The indictment includes 24 counts of aggravated trafficking in drugs, 5 counts of trafficking in drugs and 1 count of a methadone treatment license violation.

All of the alleged crimes are felonies.

As on Wednesday night Christian was behind bars at the Seneca County Jail awaiting a hearing.

An internet search of Christian shows the doctor, at one time, has admitting privilages at Mercy Tiffin Hospital.

He was listed as a general surgeon.

His "healthgrades" profile says he graduated from Howard University College Of Medicine in 1984.
