An Ohio teacher is in trouble after a video surfaced on Facebook of students drinking eggnog, and then running on a high school track until they threw up.
Pat Martin, the Assistant Cross Country coach and physical education/health teacher at Chardon High School videotaped the students during the event, and posted it online.
The video shows several students drinking eggnog, and as some male students vomit you can hear Martin in the background encouraging them to continue.
The students got the idea from a video out of Utah showing runners drinking eggnog until becoming sick.
Superintendent Joe Bergant says the students organized the eggnog challenge, but is disappointed an instructor was present, and posted the video to the web.
“I’m Shocked to say the least that this kind of activity occurred on our campus. I understand the kids will do kid things, I was just a little shocked that one of our employees was there,” said Bergant.
The students are standing behind Martin, and say the run was totally student led, and she was just a spectator.
According to the Geauga County Maple Leaf, no parents complained about the incident during a board meeting, and those contacted afterward believe the entire incident is much ado about nothing.
The superintendent says a preliminary hearing for Martin was held Monday, but additional action is expected.
