FREMONT -- Northwest Ohioans have stepped up help the Humane Society of Sandusky County get through some tough times.
Last week, WNWO learned from the humane society that because their financial problems were so severe, they were on track to close by the end of the year. But in just the past few days alone, the shelter has received more than $6,000 in donations.
On Tuesday, the humane society filed charges against the woman from whom 14 animals were seized late last month, including a donkey who had been dragged down a gravel road behind a tractor.
Jenny Secrist, 78, was charged with 14 counts of animal neglect. She will be in court on Monday morning.
Anyone interested in donating to the shelter can do so at www.hs-sc.org.
