TOLEDO -- A federal court judge has denied the man convicted of setting fire to a Perrysburg mosque last September to withdraw his guilty plea.
Randolph "Randy" Linn, 52, pleaded guilty to arson at the Islamic Center of Greater Toledo last December and agreed to a 20 year prison sentence as part of a plea deal. At the time, Linn claimed he targeted the mosque because of incidents he saw on Fox News.
A month later, however, Linn hired a new lawyer and filed a motion to withdraw his guilty plea.
During a hearing on Thursday, the judge found Linn competent when he entered his plea deal and refused to grant the request.
A sentencing date has been set for April 16.
