TOLEDO -- An Ohio State Highway Patrol spokesman confirms that investigators, out of the agency's Findlay post, are looking into a murder of an inmate at the Toledo Correctional Institution.

Lt. Anne Ralston, of OSHP, has identified the victim as Arturo B. Lopez of Ottawa County.

According to online records for Lopez, the 43-year-old was behind bars on a rape conviction from 2005 and was scheduled for release next year.

OSHP officials would not release any information on a possible suspect, but said they believe Lopez's death was the result of an inmate-on-inmate altercation on Sunday evening.

Ralston adds that once the Ohio State Highway Patrol's investigation is complete, they will hand over their findings to the Lucas County Prosecutor's Office to determine if they will pursue charges in the case.

She could not say if any video evidence was collected from the prison's surveillance cameras.

In September 2012, OSHP was involved in the murder investigation of another inmate at the same facility.

The strangling death of Bradley Hamlin lead to the indictment of Lawrence Michael Hensley in January of this year.
