The big storm that is hammered parts of Texas and Oklahoma today is making the turn toward Northwest Ohio and Southeast Michigan.
Conditions should remain quiet overnight tonight and into Tuesday morning...with just increasing clouds during that timeframe.
It's into mid-day Tuesday that the storm's impacts will begin to be felt.
Temperatures will still be near the freezing mark around lunchtime in most of NW Ohio. As the precipitation begins, a brief window will open for sleet and freezing rain.
But as temperatures warm into Tuesday afternoon...most locations will see surface temperatures climb a few degrees above freezing, changing the mix over to rain for several hours.
North of the Ohio/Michigan border, temperatures may remain cool enough to support snow...especially over Hillsdale and Lenawee Counties.
As we move into Tuesday evening...all locations look to cool enough to change all the precipitation over to snow. And while the final track and intensity of the storm are still difficult to nail down, it looks like several inches of snow will be possible overnight into Wednesday morning.
Using data from today's forecast modeling areas along and north of the Maumee River could see 2" to 4" of snow in the ground by sunrise Wednesday. Areas south and east of the Maumee River look to have 1" to 3" on the ground by sunup Wednesday.
So travel conditions in the area Tuesday night and Wednesday morning could be tricky.
As the slow moving storm slides into the eastern Great Lakes Wednesday, wrap-around moisture and cold air will combine to keep the snow showers coming Wednesday into Thursday. We could see additional light accumulations through that timeframe.
Friday...a few lingering flurries early before skies clear, setting us up for a cold weekend with sunshine.
