TOLEDO -- The day before Chick-fil-A opens the doors of its first Toledo restaurant, the chain hosted a canned food drive to help fill the shelves of Cherry Street Mission Ministries on Wednesday, November 28.

Anyone who brought three or more non-perishable food items to the new Chick-fil-A restaurant at 4260 West Sylvania Avenue, outside the Franklin Park Mall, will receive a coupon for the chain’s signature Chick-fil-A sandwich. The coupons will be redeemable at the restaurant which will open at 6:30 a.m. the next morning.

The effort to help stock the shelves of the Cherry Street Mission Ministries Food Pantry reflects Chick-fil-A Operator Jonathan Winn’s desire to quickly have a positive impact on the community surrounding the new restaurant.

Winn said, “volunteers from Cherry Street Missions have engaged customers, they have built community, we cannot be more pleased that they are here.”

Dan Rogers, CEO of Cherry Street Missions, commented about the success of the food collection.

Rogers said, “It has been a steady stream of donations…we filled two vans full so far…a great response from the community.”

The first 100 customers to the new Chick-fil-A restaurant will receive chicken for a year.
