There's some good news for those who rely on the Toledo Area Regional Paratransit Service. The group has announced that it will give free rides on regular buses for special paratransit rides or TARPS riders beginning Nov. 1.

The company is hoping the offer will sway those who qualify to take regular transit bus services in hopes of freeing up the higher price TARPS service for other passengers.

“We know there will be savings; but, until we know how many eligible riders utilize the service, we can’t predict TARTA’s savings,” said TARTA General Manager James K. Gee.

Those looking to ride regular buses must be able to get to and from all bus stops on their own and show TARPS identification.
